Perspective: foyer.

This project approaches the adaptive re-use of the Morrisons' Building into a Massey satellite campus with a focus on materiality.
The satellite campus allows for creative people from Massey University and the Te Aro community to create and study in a warm environment. The Morrisons’ Building is situated on Garrett St, Te Aro. My design intervention focuses on textile-based craft, with green felted-wool walls throughout the building. The qualities of wool allows for a submerging, quiet experience – a place to escape the noise of the city. The entrance foyer forms a huge sense of wonderment with a slanted felt wall reaching all the way up the inside of the building. The spatial programme of the campus includes; a textile workshop, quiet and collaborative study spaces, gallery space, computer areas, a kitchenette and bathrooms. All floors are accessed by both stairs and elevators. The building allows for soft craft to thrive and like-minded people to come together.
