Perspective: Propagation of Sound.
This assignment was to design an installation outside the Newtown Public Library for a nearby community group.
The community group who I am proposing a social infrastructure for is the Wellington G&S Light Opera. My design focuses on the enjoyment and playfulness of music through the movement of light on poles and its interaction with the sound. The seating surrounding the original pillars allows for a sheltered place to sit and for a place to watch potential opera 'mini' performances - to listen to music from below the seats. The infrastructure is temporary as it is centred around the group's performance of the year, Pirates of Penzance. it is a communal space which enhances the connection of Newtown to expressive arts.
